Only issue with living further out is work.
I live 27ks out of Brisbane and already waste 2 hrs of my day sitting in traffic to get to work. Public transport wont get me to my work for a 6am start so that's out.
Then there's the fuel and wear & tear on the car.
So while it might be cheaper to live further out (rent or mortgage) sometimes it still costs you more.
