When I worked as a servo attendant we had a woman topping the engine up with oil. The pool of oil under the car was getting bigger, so the boss went over to see what the problem was. She was not happy with the tiny hole the manufacturers had left for the oil to go in. Boss explained that was purely for the dipstick .... the oil went tin the top of the engine, after you take off the cap marked "OIL".
