Serves no purpose you say I would think having urrent shareholders being part of a raise would show loyalty to current shareholders probably why the word rights is used.
And if the company did not go out and seek the funds then surely the company should have demanded a premium for any share issue rather than what occured a discounted share price in the issue of shares.
