A lot of the peptides used were mainly used to aid in recovery. The injecting of proteins and other vitamins helps with recovery and are used in many peptides.
If it were all black and white the players would have been suspended long ago. People are falling on their swords because they allowed this program to occur on their watch. And this program has obviously brought the game into disrepute so they are clearly being held accountable.
Although i don't really support AFL, I have no doubts Hird would not have condoned illegal peptide use. I have no doubts he told Dank and Robinson to make sure the peptides were not on the banned list. I am quite certain every coach in both the NRL and AFL would not condone or push illegal drug use.
This will come down to Hird putting too much trust in Robinson and Dank. And those two pushing the boundaries with peptides Hird had no idea that they were banned at the time of use. I have no doubts Hird did not condone illegal drug use. He will be guilty for giving too much power to Dank and Robinson. And, even though i am a Hird supporter, if this is the case, he must go too.
