On this point I do agree. If Hird allowed the sports 'scientists' to around unchecked, then he is responsible. Unless, of course, he was overruled by those who have now resigned leaving him to take the rap.
Drugs are really a stain on our society, and I suppose it is rather naïve to believe that it could never push its way into the AFL arena. But then, surely the AFL head honcho must bear some responsibility for this sorry state of affairs. After all, he did declare some years ago that the AFL did not have an ilicit drug problem.
