Firstly, can i say well done to holders of NEU. I sold out well before now because I thought that the company was getting overhyped on the basis of very little solid evidence of clinical efficacy (basically mouse trials and phase 1 safety). I still hold those views, but acknowledge that the market is very happy with NEU, as evidenced by the price rise, so well done to holders and I wish I stayed in a little longer!.

That aside, I personally believe that the announcement today by NEU is a terrible thing for them to have done. It is essentially a dog whistle to say that 'nudge nudge, wink wink, the patients think the drug is working. Whether it does or does not is irrelevant to the argument. A biotech company should not be putting out statements like that in response to social media. I don't see them putting out trading halts over negative comments about NEU and it sets a dangerous precedent for other tinpot biotech companies to release announcements to the market saying that they can neither confirm nor deny that some unnamed contributors to an unnamed website reckon the drug is great. Fair enough if the SP is going crazy and the ASX demands to know why, then sure, put this forward as a possibility. But the SP wasn't going crazy and this 'news' wasn't being reported as 'fact' by any mainstream news agencies. To just release this out of the blue like this is, I think, unethical and it reflects poorly on the moral compass of the company.
