Even your comment about $900 big screen tvs demonstrates the very points I have been making.
Kevin Rudd's $900 payments put a floor underneath consumer confidence and helped prevent the economic meltdown of our consumer economy caused by record levels of private indebtedness; in turn underwritten by a record housing bubble ready to burst at the seams!
Tony Abbott's $11b was of course in addition to commitments made by Labor at the 2010 Election [ie. loosely costed and therefore unfunded => $200b + $11b for the Coalition!].
