I have had to do it before myself and, as you say, I knew when it was time. But this time it's different. Physically she is still in fair condition and not in pain but I think the cancer is in her brain, she is senile. This has all happened in the last week or so. I don't know how to handle that.
If I can pick up when she no longer recognises us, that might be the day.
