So fallguy and gaweb think that true and right democracies only exist outside America, and fallgut implies the Australian system is better.
Well, throughout most of Australia the party that wins the most seats wins the election, not the party that wins the most votes.
Sometimes a party wins the most seats and the most votes, and sometimes as used to happen in Queensland in the seventies and eighties the discrepancy grew to such an extent that Joh Bjelke Petersen once won enough seats to form a National Party government after getting only 24% of the vote !
I'd call that more undemocratic than anything you are talking about in America, wouldn't you ?
