Following Tony Abbott's dismal performance during the first debate some posters on this forum threw up a smoke screen about Kevin Rudd's use of notes.
The feigned outrage and accusations of cheating ran white hot on this forum. They were as apparent as the nose on your face in the wider media apparently salivating at the thought of being able to tar and feather Kevin Rudd as a cheat.
But now it's been revealed that one of the things Abbott did during the 2010 debates against Julia Gillard was to break the rules by using notes. Not that anyone made a song and dance about it at that time [???????].
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black; poor old Kevvie claims he wasn't even aware of the rule. Nor was he even reminded of it by the moderator and merely sought to ensure information he provided to viewers was accurate.
But to feign white hot outrage to cover up Abbott's pathetic and insulting performance is not only hypocritical but sickening for the manner in which mainstream Australians have been played for dumb mugs.
Abbott and his supporters who whipped up that sleezy frenzy owe a very public apology to Kevin Rudd and to mainstream Australians.
