Suspect that the interest claim may well be part of the negotiating tactic.

CFE says give us $80M + interest, MCC says lets split the difference we will give you $40M in full settlement.

CFE then says we will take $80M in full satisfaction but MCC comes back with OK to end the litigation we will give you $60M.

They then happily settle for $70M.

At some point I suspect CFE would be very tempted to take an offer to end the litigation. Question is what is the dollar figure thay are prepared to accept (and vice versa for MCC that they are prepared to pay without the matter going to the arbitrator).
