Late father was a Wing Commander in the RAF-led the 1000 bomber raid and the Dresden fire bombing. He went on a business trip to Germany in the late 60s. Asked if he had been to Germany before-his reply-"Only at night!".
Mum was a RAF Sergeant at Biggin Hill. Very unpleasant stories. Lost most of her friends to typhus, not German bombing!
Grandfather lost at the Somme....
All those who served in whatever way were heroes.
Also great to see the young kids buying poppies this morning. Mate from Perth was in town this morning (Melbourne) and was staggered to see the city completely at a standstill at 11....
Cheers,TAS
