Flagrantly so! The federal government has EXCLUSIVE power over taxation under s.51(ii) of the Constitution, the States have none!

A tax cannot discriminate between the States. No other limits on the federal government.

It's incredible and ridiculous that Sales let him get away with that totally misleading lie.

The States have got used to getting funding from the federal government under s.96, and have agreed formulas about how this is calculated. BUT the federal government can change this at any time.

BOTH taxes and grants are ENTIRELY at the discretion of the federal government!!!

It's an extraordinary lie! Easily provable to be untrue and a gross misrepresentation.

But people WANT easy answers and they want to drink the Kool-Aid.

They'll all be screaming as soon as they realise what's in it!

I'm deeply cynical about this election process, with News Ltd in control of 70% of the print media and this is the best of journalism??...pfft!

He tops it by saying that Journalists get a good go at him! It's total rubbish. He limits his media contact and hasn't been on the 7.30 report for months.

Generally speaking, Sales put him under pressure and he doesn't like that.

A functioning democracy means politicians must answer to an informed media, to better inform the public. Abbott has a great solution to that!

Abbott ignores the media as far as possible. News Ltd is doing his work for him.
