I can't understand how the existing FMG railway to Port Hedland can cope with 155mtpa:
40 tonnes per rail wagon x 100 wagons = 4000 tonnes per train.
48 trains per day x 4000 tonnes = 192,000 tonnes per day
30 days a month x 192,000 = about 5m tonnes per month
I'd have thought with that frequency of trains (one every 30 minutes) you could not deliver more than 60mtpa to Port Hedland.
Can someone help? Do the wagons carry more than 40 tonnes each or are the trains longer than I've assumed? Thanks in advance.
