If I am an existing miner , I have to deal with metal prices. This is the biggest problem any miner faces as it the only source of income for the company.

Next Australian miners have high operating costs , with mining Labour costs being higher here than in any other country in the world.

Mining companies have been including the effect of a Carbon Tax on their projects even while Howard was around. I used to do the calcs on new projects for one major mining company around 10 years ago. It make little difference , and if your operation is so marginal that this would tip you over then you shouldn't be mining that project as its a marginal project.

What Red tape do you want to stop. Look at what the Libs are doing in WA with their program to stop red , green , (white and blue tape). Nothing has changed.
You have to have a project that makes economic sense first.
And that has more to do with Metal prices and costs then tape!
