I'm putting my vote in for the biggest exaggeration of the campaign and awarding it to Joe Hockey.

Joe Hockey made a $270 billion error.

"We left the country with net assets of $70 billion, where if we are elected on the 7th of September we inherit debt going to $400 billion," Mr Hockey said on on August 14.

Hockey implies the difference is $470 billion when it is around $200 billion.

A $270 billion mistake is a massive mistake for a would be Treasurer.
