Here comes Tony Abbott's slash and burn agenda.....

''Whatever the merits of the individual decisions, you can't argue that the Coalition will have a worse macro-economic impact.

''They will announce more savings, probably scrapping infrastructure projects Labor has promised, like the $3 billion for the Melbourne Metro, and compensation to business for the carbon tax.

''But all else being equal, on what they've announced so far, I estimate there's a $27 billion gap.''

Nationals leader Warren Truss has hinted that part of that could be closed by scrapping rail infrastructure projects, including federal funding for the Melbourne Metro project, Sydney's Port Botany rail line upgrade and Brisbane's Cross River Rail.

''Obviously, projects under way will continue, but we reserve the right to reprioritise others,'' Mr Truss said earlier this month."

Warren Truss is full of it...... Brisbane's Cross River Rail project is vital to remove a massive bottle neck in Brisbane's Rail infrastructure that is already at choking point! This is typical short sighted narrow minded Politics from the Liberals who would rather build a rail line to nowhere in the Bush that will remain uneconomical for decades to come!
