There's no doubt that the Murdoch media convinced most people on Day 1 of the election campaign that Tony Abbott will become PM - they've made no secret of backing him all the way into the Lodge. He may indeed become PM in 10 days time.
Abbott's hubris is even apparent in your post but you might do well to remember the Mark Latham experience in 2004 and that of John Hewson in 1993!
However, the mainstream Australian jury on Abbott is still out and will remain so until votes are cast.
Abbott's deceitful strategy of pulling the wool over everyone's eyes until post election and confusing the hell out of them with voodoo economics will eventually back-fire; either before or after the election!
Once that backfire starts people will feel very cheated and you won't see a drift in allegiance; you'll see a stampede!
