Egypt more stable under the generals than the Brotherhood IMO. That's not good for protestors, they tend to get shot. But it has a certain effect. Thing about Egypt is its population are distributed a little like Australia ie everyone in the towns and cities around a very very narrow river delta (Nile) just like we are all in a few sweet spots round the coast and nobody in the deserts but oil workers making us money.
As for Syria... It hasn't got any oil really, but for what it's worth I just heard some analyst say oil is heading for $150. You all remember when the North Koreans were just about to bomb the South right? Not so much? Me neither. Next week, it's last week's news.
