Janimot you're partially right, WW2 was horrible, but Chemical weapons were not essentially used on European battlefields during WW2, they were used in Nazi concentration camps and in Asia.
Since the end of WW2 chemical weapons have only been used in a few cases, most notably by USA in Vietnam and Iraq in the 1980s against the Islamic Republic of Iran. (ironically sponsored by the USA)
Forget my comment about atomic bombs, just stating the fact that the USA is the only country to have used nuclear warfare. Japan had wanted to surrender, the USA knew this but they wanted to demonstrate its power...particularly to the Russians.
Perhaps if you read "Decision to Bomb" by Gar Alperovitz might give you a different perspective on this.
