Hmmm ... wot goes around comes around .. the price of US hegemony is intense hatred in the Middle East and both Russia and China (particularly Iran in Syria) are forging strong alliances to secure energy resources and strategic power across the region.

Iraq is a classic example with the US signalling a 'pull-out' in 2014 of a society based on religious fundamentalism descending into chaos/riot/bloodshed as sectarian violence erupts into outright civil war between rival religious sects .. both determined to fight to the death as they have been doing for the last 1400 years.

"Democracy" per se across the Middle East is not an idea whose time has come .. the so-called Arab Spring is not about democracy, it is simply extreme civil unrest/riot against corrupt/cruel rulers.

Islamic "theocracies" are totalitarian political regimes and "Sharia Law" is only workable where the ruling elites suppress/control citizens by direct application of terror/torture by a largely corrupt Military.

Western societies need to look inwards to their own situations as "democracy" everywhere is failing the test .. even in AUS .. our politics over the last decade seems to be a race to the bottom .. both sides controlled by narrow cabals of a few faceless 'factional' bosses and elites. In general, citizens are openly hostile to politicians so called 'reforms' most of which seem to be actions designed to increase factional power. Citizens realise also that the politicians are no longer listening to their wishes and feel alienated from the political process.

    Just meeee view ..

    Cheers ... tight stops.
