That's a pretty naïve political statement to make.
Even if Abbott becomes PM and Sophie Mirabella does win Indi, he is going to have to explain why she's on his frontbench.
If Mirabella loses and Abbott becomes PM he's still going to have to explain why she lost one of Australia's safest Liberal seats and why he kept her on his frontbench.
Either way this is going to bite Abbott on the rear end and at worst could see the removal of one of his Ministers / Shadow Ministers from Office.
