Ok so from reading the replies one of the conclusion i seem to draw from them is that most people who replied seem to say..in order for the world to progress we don't need education and knowledge all we need is 'smarts'..how do you get people or how do people become to be smart or smarter? you start by building a foundation of knowledge don't you?
So if you want a country that is full of potentially smart people you start by providing them with the foundations.

jimcross, copperroad, mike68 you all have made great points.

change for the sake of change is useless, change for the sake of trying to find something, some way better is at least useful..may i suggest jimcross that it is possible the round wheel progressed from finding out that the square wheel didn't work so well..just because someone tries to make it work today doesn't mean it wasn't tired at the outset. the whole system is rooted beyond repair..well if you have already came to that conclusion then there is no point in trying to progress with the same system.

copperroad, I hope you don't deny that through labor governments there have been initiatives that have very much aided progress. if you get voters to believe you are progressive they start demanding it.

if you convince people you are conservative what would they demand from you?

Mike "In time we will eventually have marriage equality and all the other things "progression" brings" you have a degree in physics hence you would no doubt have learnt that without action there will be no reaction. You won't get progress if you do not take steps to drive it. By people taking steps to drive marriage equality and everything else is what starts the reaction phase for progress.

socialism, corruption, incompetence and chaos have been evident in both side of politics through out time.

and yes the liberal/conservative parties also has socialistic policies. Why because through progress of the drive for more equality the liberal have been forced to impliment them because they know they have no chance of winning an election if they didn't..

Aparrently Abbott himself had voted labor in his earlier years, maybe he wised up, progressed or maybe not..thats something that could be debate for as long as there are two oppossing sides.
