One of Rupert Murdoch's papers; the Border Mail, has just published the results of its online poll into the federal election as it applies to Indi and Farrer.
The full results featuring some stunning charts are only available in print; the verbal summary includes the following:
"... But this far outstripped the results from across the Border, where 68.9 per cent (679 respondents) called Mrs Mirabella’s performance “very poor”. A further 17.1 per cent graded her performance as “poor”; 7.6 per cent said it was “excellent”. ..."
"... In Indi, 67.5 per cent said they would vote for Ms McGowan [Independent], followed by Mrs Mirabella on 11 per cent, then Greens’ Jenny O’Connor on 9.7 per cent. ...'
I don't expect Cathy McGowan will actually get 67.5% of the vote but the poll is pointing to a massive anti-Mirabella sentiment that may indeed see her swept from Office.
That would leave Tony Abbott having to replace Mirabella's position on his frontbench and explaining to mainstream Australians why he had her there in the first place.
