full time traders - trading for a living, page-16

been fulltime for about a year after 15yrs as a professional trader in Investment banking (not equities). Been investing in equities for about 13 years.
Prob only do it effectively 3 days a week and spend the rest of the time doing work in local school, church & community.

Take everyone elses advice as they trade quite differently to me - I tend to try and pick cycles for 100%-300% over 1-3 years and can wear drawdowns of 15-30% by getting the timing wrong (drawdown of individual position not the portfolio - that has never gone below about 5-15%). I do trade around a bit for some play money.

Best thing about this board is it draws your attention to things - if you can learn to sift through the crap it can be useful. My only advice is to learn who knows something here and who doesn't. In 6 years I would estimate I have read hundreds of thousands of posts but I have a very clear idea on who I think provides good information/analysis.
