As to engineers or lawyers running the country, in a previous life I was a builder and there were many architects drawings that were placed before me that were totally impossible to build economically and also in many cases even to construct in the first place. So although architects have a place in the construction industry ideally they should be not be in total control of the project but just in the planning.
As to engineers of lawyers running a country they are both ill equipped to do the job. Sure they have to have an equal responsibility in the planning but you need a manager who is qualified to take the information from the practical people and the theory people, balance that against what the public need and want and come to a result.
Unfortunately politicians are rarely qualified as managers in any sense of the word so we always have a mess.
We can also request that economists should not be controlling the books either
