We disagree about 'lost opportunity'. I don't see any problems with households getting 25 or 100Mb/sec within the next few years as costing anyone opportunity.
All the government buildings, schools, tafe, uni etc. already have the fibre.
All big businesses & office blocks in the CBD have the fibre.
Heck, even on my minesite in remote WA we have fibre. Video conferancing and remote control etc. is happening now.
What we don't need, in my opinion, is the same infrastructure installed in every home across Australia.
It's overkill.
