If China/Japan dump bonds because of the threat to the U.S. economy of tapering the TBond yield will jump and in the U.S. the Mortgage interest rates are tied to the bond yield. With interest rates already rising steadily this will kill any kind of housing led recovery as it is doing now anyway.
