Maybe in a few years or decades after having identified the crooked gene responsible for goldbuggerism, medical science may be able to come up with a cure. Meanwhile for those being affected with the disease the prognostic is very reserved as there is no way of stopping the victim's brain from progressing to a state of complete degeneration.
Imagine this: a Fed loaded with a massive amount of bonds paying interest at historical lows being hit by an increase in the interest rates due to inflation. What would that cause? A substantial loss as the Fed would not be able to unload its portfolio of bonds at the prices that paid for them. But, alas, for these people that represents such a gain that it is unthinkable to expect the Fed, a non-profit entity with a mandate for price stability, to do absolutely nothing to curb excessive inflation.
