moondoong - In my opinion, words ARE now being politicised.
Look at the very vocal lobby on marriage equality. The word "marriage" a matter of political debate.
Look at one poster's comment about homophobia - implying that if word usage or meaning is even discussed (ie husband and wife), then it is homophobic.
