Applying the GST to education sounds like a good idea.
The usual debates are around how the tax effects differrent income earners. The poorest spend most of their money on rent and food, so placing the GST on food hurts them more.
While placing it on education only hurts the people sending kds to private schools.
It would be better than Barnetts plan to charge 457 visa holder kids $4000 for attending scholl in WA.
