One had a watch with his name engraved on it. It was too risky for him to wear so she kept it with the undertaking she'd return it to him when the war was over, which she did.
He used to send her a Christmas card each year.
(She did other stuff but I won't go into it here. She refused two medals because she felt she was just an ordinary person in an extraordinary situation.)
I don't think there is a lot of difference between this and helping vulnerable people get out of war zones and into safety and security. There may be some non genuine asylum seekers but they'd be in the minority.
I think she'd agree, but she's no longer with us.
