Because, for some bullshit reason, people expect a stocks price to fall by its dividend amount on the ex dividend date! Most people are conditioned by the mainstream crap that gets fed to them by, media, brokers, so called financial experts, and, tea leaf readers!!!!
IMD fell by 4 cents today..... Dividend was .004 cents ???
Fall today was unjustifiable?????
Really it's just Some peanut needing the money to chase the amazing run by the banks, Telstra, pretty much every other dividend paying stock that's run recently! Buy high, sell low!, or sell low buy high, That's what most people do!
