NEW NSW government coal-seam gas laws have hit some of the nation's biggest energy companies, as AGL Energy and Dart Energy emerge as the biggest losers...

But the new CSG regulations announced by the NSW government this week leave gas major Santos and a few smaller players unscathed.

...Dart Energy -- which has a CSG exploration licence covering all of Sydney -- and AGL are hardest hit.

...With all of Sydney and Newcastle -- and a large amount of land in the Upper Hunter -- under exploration licences, Dart Energy subsidiary Macquarie Energy is also set to lose out.
