The other thing I'm wondering about is whether you would get a 'kick' from predominantly Co2, and, moreover, if it were predominantly Co2, why you would have to backtrack so far up the hole to drill the sidetrack?

My science studies maxed out in the 10th grade, but I would assume Co2 would be non-explosive, and the way ENI have backtracked so far to drill the sidetrack seems to indicate to me that they must have encountered a fairly volatile mix of gasses (read: hydrocarbons) which justifies their very cautious approach to drilling ahead.

Anyhow, I'm WAY out of my depth in interpreting all of this stuff, but that's the way I'm reading things.

Happy to be corrected by those who know more than me (and that probably means most of you guys).
