Bit harsh perhaps Phill, think I would roll with Johny Reb on this one. Remember that Maquarie who handled the disposal of Newmonts 81.5 million are also Oxianas takeover defence stratigests, their skillfull placement of these shares to Asian, European and North American clients whom they said 80% were long termers and the rest would be out on the day makes me think now it was all part of a plan.
Also OH said that he did not want Newmont spoiling an excellant January report by selling into good news.
