My answer is no. First of all there was no 'reduced need for the larger tailings facility'. It was being decommissioned to build another one presumably of the same size just in a different location. So there is no reduced need for it. Without it. or another one to replace it, RED could only produce 45k ounces before they run out of tailings storage capacity.

That is why Greg is saying the reserve amount should have been changed because without a tailings dam to accommodate the tailings how can you process the ore. The reserve theoretically should have been changed to 45k because that is all the room they have to store tailings with just the samller tailings dam operational.

Read again Greg's post #9776147 where he explains this more thoroughly including the points directly related to RED where he summarises under a) b) c) etc.

It's a great post. Seems it was madness to decommission the larger tailings dam unless they were certain they could build a new tailings dam by the time the smaller (eventually failed) tailings dam was full. i.e. - build it in the time it takes to process 45k. But really WHY !!?? Why decommission the already planned and built larger dam ?? For a larger ROM pad. I digress but perhaps only half as stupid as dismantling the processing plant to make way for a larger rom pad.
