I have read with interest the various ideas (well, most of the ideas...) about what this announcement might mean.
I dont yet know the answer. But the thought that occurs to me is: why a trading halt? Most of the theories canvassed on this thread e.g. announcing that the $58mil is in the bank, that a mining licence has been issued, etc would not require one, just as Tuesdays ann did not.
I believe that something new has happened - a development that the management had not planned for and were not aware of until very late last week (or over the weekend). In such a case management might want a couple of days to work out their response; therefore a TH to ensure we were not trading in an uninformed market between the time the new info had hit their radar and the time they were ready to report the development, and their response, to the asx.
Otherwise I would be obliged to conclude that after a lengthy and apparently very professional finance process, they just got sloppy with sequencing their releases. I dont buy that.
I believe that Wednesday will be interesting.
