Lets face it gizmo's plugged into mobile phone's to make payments has a limited market of certain service providers and lifespan. They charge around 2.7% compared to what certain mobile Eftpos providers charge , have no consumer acceptance and are not secure to theft of information . Aust and Nz are the only countries to offer Eftpos and we will still use it because we know its safe and secure of our information.

It costs $35 a month to rent a mobile eftpos machine and merchant fee's cost 0.9% from Myob. How is that not a lot more cheaper than slugging your customers 2.7% per transaction , mobile phones are as expensive as a mobile eftpos machine but your cant print a receipt to give to your client. Would you give your own mobile with scum marks to your client to use for payments. I dont think it looks professional.

Other devices which look more sturdy and feel more like payment devices and not mobile phones have a greater chance of being used, world pay offers one .

Direct transfer of payments from customer to service provider (electrician, dog washer, landscaper) via mobile to mobile will be the most accepted form of payment in the future i believe. You dont have to provide any credit card or pin/signature that could be captured by the service providers device.

It works like this , the service provider goes to his/her mobile and keys in the payment details into a payment app , the customer gets a sms that payment is required and the code required for payment. The customer would also see an invoice on the mobile.

The customer goes to their bank app and pays the service provider after keying in the required payment code and seeing the service providers payment amount and details.

The service provider gets instant feedback the payment has been made and will be sent to his account either that day or the next day. All this happens within minutes. The customer and service provider could be standing next to each other or miles apart. And all this costs a lot less than payclip. Im sure this process would work and someone either offers it already or is developing it. You dont provide any cards/pins/signature to the service provider , there is no way the service provider will steal your info, how good is this.

Zapp offers something like this for personal and business payments.

Another method is using QR pay , each service provider has a QR code , you scan it and make a payment of the amount

    QR Pay

QR Pay offers a mobile payment processing solution that enables individuals and businesses to make and receive payments with QR Codes via the QR Pal or QR Pay smart phone applications. QR Pay also offers payments by SMS/Text opening up the service to all mobile phone users.
