"When the claim came to light earlier in the week, Mr Randall said he had acted within entitlements and the department had signed off on the expense claim.

But on Thursday he sought urgent advice from Finance about the claim ``due to the ongoing media scrutiny and public interest''.

``The department informed me that it cannot provide definitive advice,'' Mr Randall said in a statement."

I reckon I could provide definitive advice on the matter. So could my dog and my 3 year old kid.

If the dept can't provide definitive advice on this, then what the hell can it provide definitive advice on? And surely, if it can't provide definitive advice you don't claim it.
