That was the mantra of John Howard's government as it attempted to interfere with and take political control of the curriculum in public schools. Tony Abbott's throwaway line about public schools already being well-resourced is a reminder of that mindset.
But before swallowing such mantras hook, line and stinker you'd do well to reflect on community surveys on such matters.
Whereas pollies have satisfaction ratings similar to those of real estate agents at about 2%, teachers rate at the other end of the scale and along with medical professionals.
You might also consider for a moment who it is in our society who work face to face with the entire spectrum of mainstream Australians every day of the week; now they live in and work with everyday reality, including keeping kids safe from hazards such as bushfires and child abuse!
