‘CAN YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN THE MEANING OF LIFE IN ATHIESM?’

    Good question taughtbuffet.

Life (my life, your life, everybody’s life), relative to the universe, is absolutely meaningless. Our existence in the universe is astonishingly negligible and is of tremendously little importance.

Life, relative to your friends and family, your surroundings and the 80 or so years of existences, is full of meaning. Everywhere you look you can find meaning to life.

And we should use our very short time to do what we can to improve the quality of life of those around us, to discover new things, to solve problems, to learn about the world, to be happy and to make others happy, to provide our children with the best possible start to life. The biggest problem is that our lives are way too short to do it all. The best we can do is try and get the most we can possibly get out of life and make some positive contribution.

Like I said, devoting your very short existence to a ‘false belief’ leads to a meaningless life and only detracts from the things that are meaningful.

People can spent their lives doing or believing whatever they wish. My problem is when their beliefs and actions have adverse consequences on the lives of others.

(Life being meaningless may sound depressing to some, but it provides my life with all the more meaning).
