Once exploration rights are awarded, early next year, Jan possibly, which is only 2 months away..Cel will conclude/announce their farm in. There has been no shortage of majors both internally and externally who would like to participate in possibly exploiting the 8th largest shale resource on the world, and the only party to do it with is CEL, so I can only forsee the farm - in being done on favourable terms to Cel.

Its also important to take note that Cels acreage is in the prime position, and gas has flowed before unassisted.It is also worth noting that as compared to some other shale areas which are having problems being exploited because of great depth and other issues, the Karoo shales compare favourably to the Marcellus shale and Barnett shale in terms of carbon content and thickness

If one studies the potential of this development, it is hard not to get excited. Here is what Susan Shabangu, Minister of mineral resources says:

Not only does the potential of shale gas exploration and exploitation provide an opportunity for us to begin exploring the production of our own fuel, among other things, but it also marks the beginning of the reindustrialization of the South African economy”.

Clearly, the market is largely unaware of Cels play, and this is reflected in the low share volume. Matter of time IMO till this changes.
