Mak, its about deterring "others" from attempting it. If all you have to do is pay it back when caught everyone would have a crack.

But she's not just paying it back, she's wrecked her career and there of course is the potential threat of jail and losing time with a young family. That should have been enough deterrence in the first place. There are many in jail right now, who have happily accepted a couple of years in jail knowing they still have their money stashed away untraceable. Jail isn't necessarily a deterrent, for some it's like a full expense paid holiday away from normal society. Most who are in jail for fraud aren't exactly doing hard time.

Anyway, not defending her actions whatsoever, but at least she's taking responsibility by admitting her guilt and repaying with interest. Many would not. Of course she would never ever gain our trust again.

And that money recovered can drive other trials and/or more staff/projects mak. The ones that could of happened years ago, but for lack of funds...grrrrr

We still don't know exactly what form the money stolen was, we don't know 100% it was all money that would have shown on the bottom line. Secondly I don't think POH have ever had any problems raising the money they need to perform the trial and projects they need, if anything they'veoften tried to do too much. So I don't personally look at it that way. I don't believe it would have sped up the Oxy patch progress and that still remains the holy grail to me.

Time to move on :-) She is history.
