Real education and insight (that leads to atheism) is accompanied by a burden as well as true freedom. The burden is living with more challenging unanswered questions, with the consequences of the delusions of others and the accompanying impairment to humanity's progress, etc.
Religion has had some benefits as a social construct, as a means of social management/control, and of course as an opiate. But we know It's also left a massive trail of destruction and it is a barrier to a better world.
Luckily, these days people have plenty of opportunity to educate themselves beyond the need for religion. And there is a lot of happiness there and more real opportunity for humanity there.
People can have a great moral foundation and compass without religion.
For many atheists, i think suicide would come even quicker if they felt obliged to live as a religious fake (to themselves).
Reduce suicide by getting atheists to convert to religion? That's absolutely ridiculous!!
