jlov - you mention that you have a great BMI - yet carry excess weight - well, it could not be too much excess weight. watso has great blood pressure, great resting heart rate - and is reasonably fit - eg yesterday, cycled 30km.
HIT is probably pretty good - but probably does not do much to lose weight - but obviously has other benefits. watso visited a friend the other day, and his blood pressure is fine, his weight is fine - but watso was shocked when he mentioned that he walked for 10 minutes the other day, and hoped to build up to 30 minutes - and the 10 minutes was in the house. the risk could have been that if he walked more than 5 minutes down the street, he would be out of puff, if he tried to walk back home.
watso is overweight - but always keeps moderately fit - so when it is time to lose weight, it is simply a matter of laying off the booze, and upping the tempo for the exercise.
after a successful "dry octoberfest", watso celebrated on NOV 1 - and is now aiming for "dry 4 weeks in november"
