I saw a news item on the net today (and seem to have lost it's address) saying that US SAS type forces are already inside Iraq. The article also claimed that this war,if it happens, will not start with saturation bombing but by the US/Brit forces taking over large sections of Iraq that are not under Saddam's control and close in on Saddam's forces from that position, "along with "indigenous" anti-Saddam forces"? (my addition).
I've thought for some time the idea this war would be fought with an initial bombardment ignores the fact that a lot of Iraq could be easily captured and used as a position of strength for a final assault with a minimal loss of civilian life.
Any military strategists here?
