it's a very open ended query & I guess we will only see in time but there a lot of different scenarios that could play out.
as highlighted by the company in the past regarding -
"The Company has successfully established commercial scale manufacturing for PAT-LM1 in the proprietary PER.C6® cell line, and is currently undergoing cell line development work and GMP scale up. Patrys may commence a first-in-human clinical trial for PAT-LM1 in 2014, subject to financing and/or partnering status."
and I think a lot of what transpires in regards to this candidate will be heavily weighted in what happens with SM6 post Phase II ie. if they partner or out-license SM6 (or SC1) post Phase II & now with orphan status granted in two separate jurisdictions it will also likely come with a significant up-front attached which would provide an easy option for Patrys to fund SM1 into clinical trials. The other thing here is having SM1 where it is ready to hit the clinic & with key patents granted it adds further incentive to partners / suitors across the entire pipeline - SM6 & SC1 Phase II and then SM1 primed to enter into Phase I trials - it's a pretty attractive portfolio to any party. Often you'll also find once an agreement of some sort is reached with one pharma they are more than interested in expanding the size & scope of deals - if the tech has their attention in one place it is likely applicable across all others. The black swan it just builds more incentive to acquire the company before SM1 even gets to clinic.
Very exciting few weeks heading into Phase II completion & then smoking guns through 2014 - one can always say "the market is always right" but this is not a $25M company.
