firstly, i dont see anything hypocritical holding a stock while at the same time thinking that what the company is doing is morally wrong. owning a stock isnt a conscience vote, its just an investment.

secondly, mining is hands down the fastest/best way to lift a country out of poverty. yes the villages depend on the forest for food, but soon they will have jobs to pay farmers to grow crops for them to eat.

the more advanced a society becomes, it learns to protect and preserve its nature. as african nations develop, they will begin to protect vast amounts of natural habitats.

at the end of the day, the world needs resources and i dont see any problem in knocking down parts of forests to get them. destroy the entire place? obviously not a good idea, but clearing a small patch to dig up some IO, which provides real jobs that will grow a nation probably isnt all that bad a thing.

im pro development, because i like living in a house with heating and i believe in the right of villages to live a similar lifestyle and not be relegated to being the worlds cave men because liberal thinking rich white people are so riddled with guilt for driving a BMW that they answer a call no one made to take up arms and protect the rainforests...

    sorry for the rant.
