If you decriminalise it it would become mainstream which would become another pillar for Government to control and tax. If you want to use you can get without any problem like you relative does. The Laws really won't impact you unless you grow and supply to the community or your a tool and use it in a public place.
Conservatism is a good fallback and provides a safe haven if you use becomes a problem and negatively impacts your life. Just embrace the status quo and and you realise ignorance is bliss.
